Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi sample paper

If you’re looking for sample papers for the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, or Chinese Level Test) exam, they’re available on the official HSK site. Samples for the Elementary / Intermediate exam can be found in PDF format on the HSK site (scroll down . . . ), and you’ll be able to find the others via the navigation links. A couple of notes . . .

If you’re confused about the ‘revised’ HSK exams – don’t worry, so is everyone else. There was a bit of a power struggle between the people running the HSK exam, and the office with overall responsibility for the whole teaching Chinese to foreigners enterprise. Find out what exams are available locally, and choose from those. If you have more than one option, take the original non-revised one if you may need it for university entry in China, otherwise pick the one you like the look of.

Also – the HSK.org.cn site is notoriously unreliable. If it isn’t working, try again later. And again, and again.
